There are an overwhelming amount of exercise routines out there, all promising to deliver something a bit different. Yet, in the end, they all have the same goal - namely, better health. I'm not suggesting that you ditch your favorite routine. However, if you have the MTHFR variant, there is a specific type of exercise that you'd benefit from at least incorporating into your lifestyle.
What is it? Jumping on a mini-trampoline. In the exercise world, this is referred to as "rebounding." If you're not familiar with the benefits of this type of exercise, you're probably a bit confused or even laughing at the ridiculousness of such a suggestion. Aren't trampolines for kids? Why would this help someone with MTHFR specifically? Read on.
When you have the MTHFR gene mutation, your body has a difficult time detoxing. The reasons for this are very complex. However, one of the systems in the body primarily responsible for clearing toxins is the lymph system. But guess what? The lymph system relies on physical movement to drain properly. While many types of exercise help, vertical motion moves lymph fluid most effectively. For someone with the MTHFR variant (or anyone, really), rebounding gives the body the most helpful exercise-related assistance in detoxing!
A few benefits of rebounding in comparison to running include:
-Improved lymphatic drainage
-Less stress on joints
-Burns more calories
-It's an excuse to jump on a trampoline :)
There are lots of rebounding programs to follow. You don't have to do the same repetitive motion day in and day out. You can even join a rebounding class at certain fitness centers! So go ahead and let your inner child out. It's for your own good!
